Rejuvenating Eyelid Surgery

One of the most common procedures to correct drooping, sagging eyelids is called a cosmetic blepharoplasty, also known as an eyelid lift or eyelid surgery. Patients who are looking to reduce the appearance of tired and sagging skin around their eyelids are the ideal candidate for blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery.

What is the procedure?

Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, helps correct sagging, tired eyes that are a result of genetics, gravity, and age. Corrective eyelid surgery or an eyelid lift helps reverse the appearance of aging eyes by removing excess skin and sculpting fat in the upper and lower eyelids. Common procedures for patients to undergo to compliment the blepharoplasty include brow lifts, fat transfer or liposculpture, and injectable fillers.

How it works

Blepharoplasty is a surgical technique performed under local anesthesia and sedation using  concealed incisions. The upper eyelid is lifted through an incision made in the eyelid crease, allowing fat to be moved and sculpted, and excess skin to be removed. In the lower eyelid, incisions are made most commonly just below the lash line to produce a nearly imperceptible scar.

For patients who need additional procedures, or additional lifting through the midface and cheeks, the effects of an eyelid lift can be enhanced further  by pairing this procedure with additional procedures. An eyelid lift procedure alone may not treat severe under-eye bags with fat pockets commonly known as malar bags or festoons.
