It’s a fact of life that as we grow older, we develop wrinkles … get liver spots …  have skin that’s not as taut and glowing as it once was years ago. Unfortunately, you can’t stop aging. But there are measures you can take on your own to lessen — and sometimes prevent — the appearance of older-looking skin. 

This is most certainly true during the summer months when you are outside enjoying the sunny weather. Being outdoors and enjoying the warm weather can be relaxing and fun, but it can also be extremely damaging to the skin. You should take every measure possible to protect your skin — not merely to maintain a younger-looking appearance, but to avoid serious skin conditions and diseases such as skin cancer.

We can perform a variety of procedures here at Kevitch & Chung Aesthetic Surgery Associates that can reverse the effects of visible aging due to overexposure to the sun. But the best procedure available, we can’t offer. It’s one you have to perform yourself — to limit your skin’s exposure to the damaging sun in the first place.

Mineral Makeup:

Don't forget about mineral makeup. By using mineral makeup, you not only get flawless coverage, but you get the added value of helping to protect your skin from the sun. SUNSCREEN.

Why? 

Because up to 90% of visible aging is caused by sun exposure. You need to do whatever you can to limit your exposure to the sun’s damaging rays. But before you run down to your local neighborhood drugstore or supermarket to buy your sunscreen lotion, we’d like to introduce you to some fabulous new options which can enhance and protect your skin in numerous ways that traditional sunscreens can’t.

Very light, universal tint, 100% mineral. Gives a radiant look, is non-comedogenic, and spans the whole UVB and UVA Spectrum. Repels oil to minimize sebum appearance, is water resistant, and protects collagen from UV stress.  This sunscreen gets a big thumbs up — it is a fabulous product!  And is only $30!

ELTA MD SPF 46 SPF 46 with a high level of mironized zinc (no white – honest!). Spans whole spectrum of UVB and UVA protection. Made from high-purity Niacinimide (think calming) and is lightweight, non-comedogenic and fragrance free. Very light moisture, a great sunscreen for acne and rosacea.  Jami: “I absolutely love this product”!

REVISION SPF 45 MATTE

Just like the Revision Intellishade, but now in a matte version.  Conceals with Intellishade technology – matches all skin tones, corrects with peptides and other proprietary ingredients, and protects with a broad spectrum SPF coverage and antioxidants.  The original Revision is a favorite and this new matte version will be as well.  SPF 45 makes it a wonderful choice for a daily SPF, but because the zinc content is below 5%, we would recommend another sunscreen for beach or intense sun exposure which we would be happy to recommend to you.

TIZO BODY- SPF 35

You asked for a body sunscreen and here it is! (Can be used on the face, too!) 20% zinc oxide with 40 minutes of water and sweat resistance. No fragrances or chemical sunscreens. Contains antioxidants. Also an excellent selection for children. 

SPF 30 EYE SCREEN by Colorescience

Highly refined mineral screen for around the delicate eye area which we all tend to forget. A great addition to your summer arsenal. At only $20 a jar, everyone should have one.

Add these products to our existing sunscreen lines and we can confidently say we have a sunscreen for everyone!  Now there is no excuse not to have proper sun protection this summer. Add an antioxidant like PHLORETIN CF or CE FERULIC and you’ll be giving your health a boost, too!

Don’t stop your skincare treatments just because it is summer. If you are concerned about exfoliation in the summer due to more sun exposure, make the switch for the summer months to ultrasonic exfoliation. Ultrasonic vibration deep cleanses and gently exfoliates along with infusing moisture and nutrients into the skin.
