Revitalize your skin the natural way with Microneedling

20 years

There’s quite a lot of buzz surrounding the skin rejuvenation procedure called “microneedling.” And for good reason.

Microneedling, simply, is a unique treatment that stimulates your skin’s natural ability to heal. It involves the use of a device that contains fine needles which are used to make microscopic holes/channels in the skin. The goal of doing this is to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin in the area being treated — which is the way your body naturally reacts to such trauma to the skin. By stimulating your skin’s repair processes in this controlled manner, skin can become thicker and more radiant, produce new collagen, lessen the appearance of scars, reduce pores, and regulate pigment. So, this treatment is ideal for anyone who wants improved skin tone, less fine lines and wrinkles, or to reduce acne or other scars — without having to use any chemicals or undergo surgery.

The treatment is relatively painless with most patients reporting very minimal, if any, discomfort. Healing time is more of a “social downtime” with skin appearing red like a sunburn for typically 24 hours. And makeup can be worn 24 hours following the procedure. About a week after the treatment, your skin will appear significantly more vibrant (patients describe having a “glow” to their skin.) Changes continue to occur for up to six months after last treatment.

If you want to maximize the effects of Microneedling, you can add PRP, or platelet rich plasma, to your treatment program. This is when we draw a small vial of your blood and the platelets are extracted and re-introduced back into your skin via microneedling. PRP is full of growth factors and signaling proteins which are essential in the repair process initiated with medical needling.

The results of microneedling are best achieved when it’s performed in a series of monthly treatments (typically four to six.) To aid your healing time and fully enhance your results we recommend that you use several homecare products, which in addition to being helpful for the areas of your face which you have microneedled, are also great to use on your neck, chest and hands as well or for scars from surgery.

Microneedling is not a new procedure but the recent introduction of several new microneedling devices to the skin care market (one of which is utilized here at Kevitch, Chung & Jan)— along with unique natural basis by which it achieves results — has made it a skin treatment option that you’ve probably been hearing more about.
