What is the procedure?

Rhinoplasty can be used to correct the shape of the nose, to make it smaller or larger, change the angle of the nose, narrow the nose, or to correct bumps and defects. This surgery can be done either to correct cosmetic and aesthetic defects or to improve the functioning of the nose, from either a birth defect or trauma.

Ultimately, the level of correction is unique to each patient and will be decided upon with the guidance of the doctor based on the desired look and function. The doctors at Kevitch, Chung and Jan want to get to know each patient's desires and the specific nasal characteristics they find attractive.

How it works

During nose reshaping surgery, or rhinoplasty, the surgeon makes incisions inside the nose to remove, add, or alter the bone and cartilage that supports the nose, creating the physical structure. Once the reshaping has been completed, the surgeon will then support the new structure using a splint which will ensure the structure is enforced during the healing process.

The recovery process is unique to the individual, but it's typical for the splint and any additional bandages to be removed in a week. Swelling and bruising typically improves within 10-14 days. Gradually, the rest of the swelling of the nose decreases over the next several months.
